Our Local Economy Action Group
What we've done:
fostering local economy
highlighting locally owned businesses
introducing Time Banks
What we'd like to take on:
- Researched best practices and developed criteria for locally owned green businesses.
- Developed Green Pages listing locally owned businesses in Greater Cheltenham. If you know of one that qualifies, please let us know so we can add to our Green Pages and promote this enterprise.
- Started a mutual credit system called TimeBanks, which refers to a reciprocal service exchange that uses units of time as currency and is an example of an alternative monetary system. Join Old York Road Time Time Banks today!
Your ideas?
- Encourage more locally-owned businesses, in partnership with the Downtown Glenside Community Partnership
- Promote the concept of the Triple Bottom Line and the concept of locally-owned green businesses so that a larger proportion of our goods & services can be made available locally
- Promote our local TimeBanks - the Old York Road Time Bank
