Sustainability Education Accomplishments:

  • The Sustainability Education Action Group invited a landscape architect with expertise in storm water management to talk with residents about  Storm Water Problems on their properties  Read here for  his advice .......

  •  Bring you information such as our :  Non-Toxic Alternatives for a Safer, Healthier Home

  • Organized the "Un Car" Picnic

  •  Arranged a series of "Green Skills" workshops for the Cheltenham Township Adult School, including
              "Food Preservation Party",
              "The  Homeowner's Ultimate Energy Guide"
              "Integrated Pest Management"

  •  Interfacing with Cheltenham Township Dept. of Parks and Recreation in their wonderful workshops on "Maple Sugaring",   Water Conservation", "Integrated Pest Management", "Walk in the Woods", "Learning About the Creek",   and a "Creepy Crawl"

  • Interfacing with Coordinator of  Grove Park series  including "Where are the animals?" "Where are the birds and what are they doing?"  Who lives in or by the creek" "Trees, bushes, flowers and grasses at Grove Park."

  • Interfacing with educators who will bring sustainability workshops to classrooms or other groups upon request.
     

Future Plans Include :

  • Arrange  a tour of demonstration sites that show the Best Management Practices for preventing runoff. 
  • Offer a hands-on build-your-own compost bin workshop.
  • Initiate a "Rollicking Random Roving All-Volunteer Work Party" - a group of people (this will change as people drop in or drop out), who will help others do work at their homes, such as gardening, clean-up, leaf raking, etc., for people who are unable to do a job on their own. Work to the music.
  • Coordinate with other groups who are doing sustainability actions, such as Pennypack Farm's film festival and discussion group series.
  • Get ideas from you so we can put your passion into action.
